How will accounting software providers assist with the increase in the NZ GST rate?

Accredo
Instruction sheets have been sent to all Accredo customers giving details on how to calculate the GST once the GST rate change comes into effect. If you are using this system and have not received the information sheet, it would be advisable to get in contact with Accredo.

Cashmanager rural
CRS have advised that clients need to upgrade their software and data to version 4.2d to be 15% GST compliant.  All clients who have licensed their databases and are currently running Cashmanager RURAL version 4 will automatically receive an upgrade that meets the new GST requirements. All other users will need to contact CRS on 0800 888 707 or 0800 763 827.

Incisive
The Incisive software will require a number of programming changes in the Incisive applications (Specialist Practice Manager, Private Hospital Manager and Inventory). Release 4.0 of the applications will include these changes and you will be notified closer to the time of the availability of this release.

In order to streamline the updates across all sites in New Zealand, you will be required to have implemented the update to Release 300.0 or later by mid August. If you haven’t already done so, updating to Release 300.0 requires a complete reinstall on each workstation to update some controls, therefore this update is more time consuming than previous updates and may require the involvement of your hardware technician.

If you have not already updated to this version, please contact the Incisive Helpdesk.

MYOB
Businesses can find out more about the tax changes in relation to their MYOB software on their website.

QuickBooks
While QuickBooks 2010/11 incorporates a number of major changes to the software, Reckon have developed a patch to deal with the GST rate change. The GST patch is now available on the Quicken website for download, this also includes the GST Upgrade Instructions and a handy tutorial video going through the changes. Please note the patch will not be sent out to individual customers, so you will need to follow this link to their home page in order to make the download.

Xero
Xero is an internet-based accounting system and as such updates required will be automatic and therefore clients using Xero should not need to do anything to update their system as these will happen automatically.  To read more on the Xero GST updates and what’s next, be sure to look at this page in Help.
